How much does a wedding band cost in Portugal? A 2027 guide
By Filipe Martins, founder and artistic director of The Keys

Short answer: in Portugal you will find bands from about €200 to €5,000 for a single performance, with an average of about €1,000 across all kinds of events, according to Zaask, a Portuguese services marketplace. Weddings sit higher: FixTheMusic, a booking platform, reports an average of about €1,895 for a wedding band booked in Portugal in 2026. Full-day music with a live band, a DJ and proper production sits above that.
What changes the price
- The line-up. A singer with a guitar is not a five-piece band. Each musician adds a fee, travel and a meal.
- The hours and the moments. Playing only the party, usually two sets of 45 to 60 minutes, costs less than covering the ceremony, the cocktail hour, dinner and the after-party.
- Sound and lighting. Some quotes include only a basic sound system. A venue for 150 guests, an outdoor party or a venue with strict sound limits needs concert sound, monitoring and an engineer.
- Travel and accommodation. Bands usually charge extra outside their home region. Ask whether travel is included or quoted on top.
- The date. Saturdays from May to October are in highest demand. Fridays, Sundays and winter dates are often more flexible.
- Special songs. Learning your first dance or an entrance song takes rehearsal time.
What you pay for at the top of the market
At the luxury end you are not paying for more songs. You are paying for a band that plans the day with your planner, sounds right in any venue, looks after the microphones for the speeches, never leaves a silence between sets and arrives with its own production and crew.
How The Keys prices a wedding
Every proposal is built around your day: the formats, the moments you want covered, the venue and the production it needs. Our music starts from €650 for a ceremony soloist, and many couples book the full day, from the ceremony to the after-party. There is no travel fee within the Algarve; elsewhere, travel is quoted together with the music, so there are no surprises. Tell us your date and venue through the availability form and Filipe will reply with clear options.
Questions to ask before you compare quotes
- How many musicians are on the line-up, and who are they?
- Which moments are included, and how long is each set?
- Are sound, lighting and a sound engineer included?
- Are travel, accommodation and meals included?
- What happens if the party runs late?
- Can we watch unedited videos from real weddings and read reviews under the name we are booking?
Frequently asked questions
How much is a wedding band in Portugal?
Typically from a few hundred euros for a solo musician to around €5,000 for a full band for one performance; full-day music with production costs more. Marketplace averages sit at about €1,000 for bands in general and about €1,895 for wedding bands.
How far ahead should we book a wedding band in Portugal?
Most couples book 12 to 18 months ahead, especially for Saturdays between May and October in the Algarve and Lisbon.
Is a DJ cheaper than a live band?
Usually yes. Many couples combine both: the band for the main party and a DJ with live saxophone for the after-party.
Do wedding bands in Portugal bring their own sound?
Most bring a basic system. For larger venues, outdoor weddings or strict sound limits, ask for full production with an engineer. The Keys brings its own sound, lighting and crew through The Keys Productions.
