Olhão, Algarve, October 2026. Filipe Martins grew up in Olhão between his family’s market stalls, his grandparents’ restaurant and a guitar. Today he leads The Keys Entertainment, a house of music that brings fully live performance to weddings and private celebrations in Portugal, Spain, Italy, the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Filipe began as a solo musician. Over more than 5,000 live performances he saw talented musicians held back by low fees and a lack of structure, and began training, equipping and managing them. In 2019 he founded The Keys. It now works as six houses under one artistic direction: The Keys Wedding Band, The Keys Function Band and Orchestra, The Keys Roaming Band (The Nomads), The Keys Strings, The Keys DJ & Co. and The Keys Productions.
Most of the couples who book The Keys travel to Portugal to marry, many of them from the United Kingdom, Ireland and the United States. The Keys plays for the whole day, from strings at the ceremony and roaming musicians at the cocktail hour to the band and a DJ with live saxophone at the after-party, and brings Portuguese music into international celebrations.
Since 2025 The Keys Productions has run its own stage, lighting, concert sound and production truck, so the musicians and the technical crew work as one team. Filipe also founded Nexus Talent Agency, which represents and books musicians for hotels and events and delivered more than 900 hotel performances in 2024.
“Each performance is a memory that never fades. Designed, rehearsed and performed to perfection. We craft every event as a piece of art.” Filipe Martins, founder and artistic director
